Leadership

Ms. Maddy Ringer, Principal

RingerAt Mark Twain School, we believe every student deserves a chance to succeed—no matter their path or the challenges they face. As a full-scale alternative school within Poplar Bluff R-I, Mark Twain offers a supportive, innovative, and student-centered environment for learners in grades 7–12.

Originally established to help students who needed a nontraditional approach, Mark Twain provides a unique pathway designed to support students who may not have thrived in traditional school settings. Our mission is to meet students where they are, helping them build strong academic foundations while developing essential social and interpersonal skills. By focusing on these areas, we empower our students to stay on track and prepare for successful futures.

Mark Twain is more than just a school—it is a hub for services that support the entire district. We house the district’s in-school homebound instruction options, partner with FCC Behavioral Health to offer on-campus life skills classes, and provide career exploration options through the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program. We also offer blended learning through Edgenuity, giving students flexible options to recover credits and earn their high school diplomas.

Whether students are preparing for college, entering the workforce, or serving in the military, our individualized support helps them take their next steps with confidence. Every day, we see lives change and new possibilities open up—because at Mark Twain, success is more than just academic achievement; it’s about building a future.

Backed by strong community partnerships and a dedicated team, Mark Twain School is a place of healing, restoration, and new beginnings. Join us as we continue to grow, evolve, and inspire hope—one student at a time.
